DIY 3D Printed iPad mini Wireless Charging Dock
These are the STLs you can use to make the iPad mini charging Dock.
I am assuming most of you are here because of the YouTube video but if you are not, you can get familiar with the dock there:https://youtu.be/Dn3ybt7thdo
THE DOCK IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH ANY CASES ON YOUR IPAD, DO NOT TRY IT!
File Selection:
The 2021 6th gen iPad mini and the 2024 7th gen iPad mini share the same magnet layout and either can fit on the dock.
The main difference is the Apple Pencil holder that is on front of the dock since the magnets are different on the 2nd Gen Pencil and Apple Pencil Pro.
So if you do not have a Pencil or do not want to use the Pencil Holder, get the "No Apple Pencil Holder" option.
If you have the 2nd gen Pencil, get the "2nd Gen Apple Pencil Holder" option
If you have the Apple Pencil Pro, get the "Apple Pencil Pro Holder" option
All options come with the Popsocket cutout version if you wanted to use one.

Magnetic Charging Cable: https://amzn.to/3Qyjyve
Anker Charger: https://amzn.to/3EQ94EG

Magnets: https://amzn.to/3Qybiv3
Popsocket: https://amzn.to/4ih6xSB
(optional but you should honestly consider using one)
Using the links gives me a 2-4% commission. Using the links is an easy way to support things like this at no additional cost to you since you needed the supplies for the model anyways. I would like to be able to do more things like this but it does take time to make these type of things and if it is unsustainable then I would simply have to stop. I am really grateful to receive support in any way possible whether you decide to use the links or just by simply watching the videos.
Instructions:
Everything is generally explained in theYouTube Video here: https://youtu.be/Dn3ybt7thdo
But I will add some stuff here:
Print your selected file
I am using a 0.4mm nozzle to print, 0.2mm layer height. I would not recommend using larger nozzles unless you are utmost confident of your printer's tolerances.
I used supports for the small charging hole
You should be able to shove in the cable through the slot.
It is a little tight so that it wouldn't easily be moved out.
Your iPad mini has the same tiny alternating magnets arranged like this.
Refer to your iPad mini by placing some magnets on it to determine which way the magnets need to be facing to be able to attach to your iPad mini properly.
Test out sections by taping the magnets down and seeing if it properly snaps to your iPad before gluing it down permanently.
Repeat the same thing for the Pencil Holder if you selected that option
Depending on where you plan on mounting this thing, I would recommend something like command strips:https://amzn.to/4gXopR6
or some adhesive dots:https://amzn.to/4bfz7RP
and you are all done :)
If I make any updates, I will list them here.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment on the video.
I greatly appreciate your support and doing so allows me to continue having fun and making these types of obscure things.
Have Fun! :)
